‘Potter’ in Review — Published in The Columbus Dispatch Monday, July 11
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 will be released later this week, and ‘Potter in Review’ is the perfect way to refresh your memory before heading the theater.
In my Layout and Design class, we worked with staff artist Charlie Zimkus at The Columbus Dispatch to create features for the paper’s Life & Arts section. The assignment included brainstorming topics, pitching the ideas to Charlie, and, of course, researching, writing and creating a full feature. The folks at The Dispatch liked my feature enough to publish it!
This is probably one of my favorite features. I love Harry Potter and I love any research that involves watching the Potter films. It was certainly a challenge to condense the plots into 60 words or so.
I’m so honored that Charlie and the editors at The Dispatch chose my feature. If you need a Potter review yourself, you can read the complete article on the Dispatch’s website.
As a side note, I do not work for The Dispatch. This was a freelance project as a result of classroom collaboration. I would like to thank The Columbus Dispatch, especially Charlie Zimkus who worked with me and helped see this project through to publication. My design professor Julie Elman and the VisCom Design Class of 2011 also deserve recognition. Without their feedback and help, this page would still be a hot mess.
